The bodyguard accused of making Catherine Harding and Jude Law's 11-year-old daughter cry in a hotel has broken his silence on the incident.

Chappell Roan had been staying in São Paulo for a gig when Harding and her daughter Ada were confronted by security staff in the hotel, according to Harding's husband and former Chelsea footballer Jorginho. Harding shares Ada with Law following a previous relationship.

After the 'Good Luck, Babe!' singer insisted she had nothing to do with the ordeal because her personal security team were not involved, the man at the centre of the incident has explained his actions.

Pascal Duvier, who has worked in the past for Kim Kardashian, said on social media: "I take full responsibility for the interactions on 21 March.

"I was at the hotel on behalf of another individual, and I was not part of the personal security team of Chappell Roan.

"The actions I took were not on behalf of Chappell Roan, her personal security team, her management, or any other individuals.

"I made a judgment call based on information we obtained from the hotel, events I had witnessed in the days prior and the heightened overall security risk of our location."

He added: "My sole interaction with the mother was calm and with good intentions, and the outcome of the encounter is regretful."

Duvier was Kim Kardashian's head of security when the star was robbed at gunpoint at the Hotel de Pourtales during Paris Fashion Week in 2016.

The thieves made off with $10 million worth of jewellery. Last year, eight people were found guilty over the heist, with four handed sentences of up to eight years in prison.

Kardashian called it 'the most terrifying experience of my life'.

Duvier personally found himself in hot water. Not only did Kim fire him, but insurer AIG slapped him with a $6.1 million lawsuit - the amount they paid Kardashian to cover the stolen jewellery.

They accused him of 'negligently' protecting Kim K. He was accompanying Kourtney and Kendall Kardashian to a nightclub at the time of the incident.

The suit was settled before it reached court.

Jorginho said he would ‘file a complaint’ with the hotel after how Ada was treated in São Paulo.

Taking to Instagram, the Italy Euros winner originally from Brazil claimed: "A large security guard came over to their table while they were still having breakfast and began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner to both my wife and my daughter, saying that she shouldn’t allow my daughter to ‘disrespect’ or ‘harass’ other people."

Roan, meanwhile, provided her 'half of the story' last Sunday.

"I'm just gonna tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard who is not my personal security," she said on a video posted on her Instagram page.

"I didn't even see a woman and a child. Like I did not, no one came up to me. No one bothered me. Like I was just sitting at breakfast in my hotel."

The Grammy-winner went on to say that she 'did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child'.

She then apologised to 'the mother and child' and said 'you did not deserve that'.

Everything Chappell Roan has said about setting boundaries with fans

Despite both Roan and Duvier saying the singer had nothing to do with the incident, her previous comments about setting strict boundaries with fans likely contributed to the backlash she faced.

July 2024

Roan says on The Comment Section with Drew Afualo she has ‘pumped the brakes’ on her stratospheric rise to fame because fans were behaving ‘like freaks’ and giving ‘stalker vibes’, complaining they ‘follow me and know where my parents live, and where my sister works’.

August 2024

Roan says on TikTok: “I don’t care that abuse and harassment, stalking, whatever is a normal thing to do to people who are famous or a little famous, whatever.

“I don’t care that it’s normal. I don’t care that this crazy type of behaviour comes along with the job, or the career field I’ve chosen, that does not make it OK.”

She calls out fans who think it's ‘selfish for me to say no for a photo or for your time, or for a hug’.

She adds: “It’s weird how people think that you know a person just because you see them online and you listen to the art they make.”

She follows this up with an Instagram post which read: “When I’m on stage, when I’m performing, when I’m in drag, when I’m at a work event, when I’m doing press… I am at work. Any other circumstance, I am not in work mode. I am clocked out.

“Women do not owe you a reason why they don’t want to be touched or talked to.”

She begs fans not to call her by her real name, Kayleigh, adding: “I feel the most unsafe I have ever felt in my life.”

March 2026

Fast forward to this month, and on 9 March, Roan appears to film herself calling out paparazzi and fans, with a video of the incident shared by an onlooker.

She tells her phone camera: “I’m just trying to go to dinner, and I’ve asked these people several times to get away from me.

"They’re hiding their face because they’re ashamed - because I’ve asked them.

“These are all the people that are completely disregarding all of my boundaries. All of you, I’m asking you kindly to please leave me alone and stop following me and harassing me.”

Also in the crowd is a fan, appearing not to read the room, who asks Chappell for an autograph, which she refuses.
